A Love I Never Thought I'd Get To Get To

Another Move

Despite my love for all things Texas, the drive from Utah was not something I was looking forward to. 20+ hours driving alone would have driven me crazy! (No pun intended.) My Aunt Susan is a bit a "Road Trip Junkie". Or would "Guru" be a better term? She loves driving long distances and was happy to drive out with me. She was even kind enough to do 95% of the driving. I get awful anxiety driving at night ever since Michael and I spun off a two lane mountain road coming home from Bear Lake during an intense snow storm late one February night. Once my aunt and I made it to Wichita Falls, we decided some site seeing was in order since it was her first time visiting Texas. Michael and I took her to Dealy Plaza in downtown Dallas to see the site of President Kennedy's assassination.

The Sixth Floor Museum. One of the shooters is believed to have shot from the sixth floor of this building.

The Grassy Knoll.

The Kennedy Memorial

You can see the Grassy Knoll past the monument.

I love the reflection of the sky on this building.

X's have been placed on the road where the bullets struck the President.

Dallas has some great buildings!

My Aunt Susan with one the X's marking where President Kennedy was shot.

This man claimed to have been present when Pres. Kennedy was shot. He has a picture showing him as a young boy standing along the parade route right by the Grassy Knoll. He talks to tourists about what happened that day.

The fence is marked to show where Lee Harvey Oswald perched his rifle to shoot the President.

Michael attempting to drop one of the bull statues...he didn't get very far.

"This is Sparta!"

Aunt Susan got swept up in all the excitement of Dallas.

Street Cars are making a comeback in Dallas and they are so much fun to ride in!

Here are a few pictures I took during our arrival and stay in Wichita Falls.

We had ducks walking around in the street during a rainstorm.

There are some crazy clouds in Texas...the whole "Tornado Alley" thing has me scared I'll get caught in a real life reenactment of the movie Twister.

Our apartment was 2 minutes from Sheppard Air Force Base.

This was our final run through of the apartment to make sure that we had everything.

After 3 days in Wichita Falls, Michael's job transferred us down to Fort Worth and we couldn't have been happier about the move. The new apartment was only a one bedroom, but it is much nicer than the dingy one we were in in Wichita Falls. I'll post those pictures later.

I'm really bad at this whole blog thing...

Man, for someone who loves to write and take pictures, I'm really bad at this whole blogging thing...The saddest part is that I take pictures with the intent of putting them on the blog, but it just never seems to happen. Playing "catch up" is not nearly as fun as giving each story it's own well thought out post. Oh well, here we go!

My last post was about our move to Texas. So much has happened in the year since I last posted. The biggest change being that Michael and I are back in Utah! (Not an exclamation of excitement.) We loved living in Fort Worth more than anything we have done since being married. We lived in the most perfect location and still dream about it sometimes. I miss it so much that my heart aches when I think about it. We planned on buying a house and making Fort Worth home...What is the saying about telling God your plans if you want to hear him laugh? Two months into our Texas adventure, loving my job as a photographer and our season passes to Six Flags Over Texas, I received a phone call that changed everything. My grandma had fallen and really hurt herself. She was strong enough to be on her own when we left, but things changed and she could no longer live on her own. Michael and I decided to finish out the summer in Fort Worth then go back to Provo. We were both heartbroken, but we knew it was the only option if we wanted to keep Grandma out of a nursing home.

So here we are; back in Provo. It hasn't been all bad. We've been blessed for our sacrifice. And we know that one day Fort Worth will be home.

We Moved To Texas!!

Eeeeeeee!!! Little did we know when were in Texas for the BYU vs TCU game, deciding that we wanted to live there, that within 7 months we would be! Michael was hired as a Technician for Vivint and was sent to Wichita Falls, TX in April. (The apartment was less than a mile from Sheppard Air Force Base...Only a few of you will know the significance of this.) I finished school in Vegas and went home to Provo for a little while to spend some time with Grandma and pack up all the things my oh-so-male husband didn't think to bring with him. (Sometimes I wonder how he survived for 27 years without me.) I packed my poor little Hyundai Elantra its absolute limit (there was barely even any room in the front seat) and kidnapped my Aunt Susan so she could drive me, I mean drive with me, halfway across the country. (I'll be honest, she drove about 23 of the 25 hours it took us to get from Provo to Wichita Falls.)

Utah

My Grandpa worked for Union Pacific when he was a young man.

This is what we saw for the however many hours it took us to get through Utah.

The GPS on my phone was trying to kill us...

A previous "accident" broke the latch connecting the bumper to the rest of the car. A massive tumbleweed knocked the bumper loose so we duct taped it to ensure it didn't rattle off during our cross country drive.

Chimney Rock, CO.

I had an Oregon Trail Geek moment, :)

They lied.

We stopped at a hospital in New Mexico after finding out that we had been exposed to Whooping Cough.

One of the Indian Reservations in New Mexico.

Everything was abandoned and worn down.

The last 1/4 of a car graveyard.

The duct tape started to lift so we applied more!

Albequerque!

We drove through the night and made it to Texas in time for sunrise!

A Texas sunrise!

The apartment complex. I was only here for a few days before we were transferred to Fort Worth.

The view from our back door.

The back wall of our apartment. Far left window is the spare bedroom, middle window is the living room, and the right window is our bedroom.
